Studio Project
Why the need for the studio expansion?
The current studio is based in Xai-Xai, about 3 hours north of the capital city of Maputo. It is currently in the top floor of a Wesleyan Bible college, divided into two small rooms. The Bible college students come from all over Mozambique, which provides the studio with easy access to readers for many of the languages spoken in Mozambique. The downfall, however, is that the quality of these recordings can be inhibited by the frequent noises heard from the classes and activities taking place in other parts of the building. Often, too, recordings get interrupted or put on hold for other tasks to be completed, such as uploading Scriptures onto the digital audio players for distribution. The need for these players is overwhelming, and ASM is struggling to meet this need with their current operation. ASM has been praying for a solution to this problem, and God answered with an area of land for sale.
Where will the studio be located?
The new land for the studio is conveniently located right next to the Bible college. God is good! Being next door, it is still feasible to partner with the students attending the college, but also allows for adequate space and a more controlled environment.
What services will the new studio provide?
The possibilities are endless! For one, Scripture recordings will be able to be done more frequently, allowing ASM to provide Scripture in languages never before put in audio form.
ASM also hopes to expand upon their adult Sunday School program and record more Christian music.
A recent need that has come to their attention is the need for recorded sermons. One community in central Mozambique has 9 active Christian churches. Within this past year, all 9 of those pastors have passed away from various diseases and illnesses, leaving these congregations without anyone to bring them teachings from the Gospel. Having recorded sermons available in situations like this could help to revive these communities. And being located right next to the seminary, there is no shortage on people willing to preach!
With all of these different recordings outlets, ASM also hopes to open up a library with the materials available for check-out. They also hope to broadcast a low-frequency radio station, so that the people in Xai-Xai could listen to Christian music and messages. Currently, there is only one other national radio station available in that area, so the residents will welcome another option.
The building proposed is two stories tall. The hopes are that one of the stories will be dedicated to the studio, while the other floor will be rented out by other ministries or non-profit organizations. This would enable the studio to be self sufficient and operational without solely relying on donated funding.
The opportunities are endless and this studio expansion allows ASM to get the Word out to more people in more avenues. We are excited about this project and cannot wait to see what God does with it!
